Pipe wood becomes available at level 27. You can get it by chopping down palm trees and clearing away tree stumps.
You will need pipe wood to build the Materials Workshop on Home Island, as well as to complete certain quests on Emerald Island.
Pipe wood is also used to craft wooden chutes at the Workbench, and bamboo frames at the Materials Workshop. It is also needed to complete some Merchant orders.
