White Clay unlocks at level 8. You can get it by clearing white clay deposits across the islands, or by clearing obstacles that appear on Home Island, as well as on Spirits, Serenilla, and Whisper Islands.
White clay is often needed to complete Merchant orders, and for construction, upgrading and restoring various buildings such as the Dining Table, Ceramics Workshop, Smelter, and Spirits Campfire. You will also need it to restore bridges, stairs, and passages, and upgrade the Stone Storage, Wood Storage, the House, and the Stone Poem.
You will also need white clay to craft items at the Forge, Ceramics Workshop, Smelter and Mixer.
